Union budget for Sports 2019
Nirmala Sitharaman became the second women Finance minister to present the budget after Indira Gandhi in 1970. She said that this budget is the first step for realising the dream of 'New India'.
The Union budget did not change the interim allocations set aside for sports but widening the scope of BJP's own ‘Khelo India’ program, She announced the setting up of a National Sports Education Board (NSEB) in the first Budget of its second term.
This intiative will definitely help sports reach till grass root level of the country. The (NSEB) will also make sure to create a sporting culture in the country with which India can reach its full potential in sports.
Major changes were made during interim budget by Piyush Goyal and Nirmala Sitharaman didn't touched those aspects.
During the interim budget last year the Khelo India National Programme for Development of Sports had got a hike of Rs 50.31 crore and from the previous allocation of Rs 550.69 crore, it is now Rs 601 crore.
The allocation to SAI had also been increased by Rs 55 crore.
So overall not much to talk about the changes in union bugdet for sports but the setting of National sports education board is definitely an important aspect added for development of Indian sports.
